Course Prerequisites
French 164,  2 years in the WHPS Continuing French Program or 3 years in high school

Statement of Pedagogical Principles and Practices :
This course is a college level course. UCONN-ECE is a concurrent enrollment program that allows students to receive both high school and college credit for French 267 or French 268. The three credits earned transfer into UCONN   and many other institutions. Grades below a C are listed as " audit" showing that students have attended the course.

Both french 267 and French 268 are "introductory advanced courses" whose primary  goal is to help students achieve success in future advanced French college courses ( Francophone literature, French cinema, introduction to literary theory, phonetics ) . Both courses aim at helping students master the 4 skills and becoming familiar with the French language and with Francophone culture, in order to help them focus on more complex content courses in college.


French 267
This course is an overview of a variety of cultural and thematic topics while incorporating speaking, reading, listening and writing.  Students will be able to engage in regular activities and assessments that may include : reading, oral presentations, compositions, class discussions, grammar exercices, quizzes and exams.

French 268:
This course is a composition course in which students will write using a variety of writing skills: letter, book.film review, argumentative essays and reserach paper. 
Reading will be centered on 20th century francophone literature and may vary from year to year. Students will revised their work, write essays in class, and do a research paper.
